Description
We start with food and clean water because these are the most basic needs of orphaned and forgotten children. This is what opens the door to help them holistically (body, mind, and spirit). Our second focus is on providing medical care. For many children living in poverty, a childhood injury or preventable disease steals any hope they had for a future beyond poverty. We fight hard to get them healthy and keep them that way. Education is next in the process of developing each child. Many children we encounter in Africa have fallen behind in school or have even dropped out to care for dying family members or because they are unable to pay the school fees. We work to get them caught up and back in school, and to excel in school. Discipleship is one part of our effort where tremendous life transformation occurs. As children attend our Bible clubs at the CarePoints, they learn that God has a plan for them, and hope takes root in their lives. Once hope has taken root in their lives, we help the children turn their focus outward to helping and serving others. Leadership development helps them connect with their purpose to serve God and others and identify their unique talents and abilities. One of the greatest privileges we have is to see young people, some of whom were children at our CarePoints, graduate from a one-year ministry internship at our Global Leadership Academy as Godly young leaders ready to change their world.
