Description
Since 1970, Family Resources, Inc. has been the agency to turn to for crisis counseling, safe shelter and respite for runaway and homeless teens. They are committed to making a difference in the lives of those who need our help and have nowhere else to turn.
Family Resources provides a vital continuum of services to children, youth and families. Their goal is to support the family as a whole and keep the family together. Family Resources offers counseling services, shelter and transitional living programs as well as an array of community-based programs that assist youth in dealing with family issues, peer pressures and other challenging social issues. Their services offer hope while providing the education, skill building and therapeutic support that gives youth and families the tools necessary to resolve conflicts and experience successful, permanent relationships.
Their mission is to strengthen families and build better communities by providing prevention, support and counseling to children, teens and families. They are guided by our vision that every child should be safe, that every troubled teen deserves help and that every family torn apart in crisis be given the opportunity to mend.
History
The agency was founded in 1970 by a group of local radio DJ’s who were getting calls from young people who had nowhere to turn for help. Youth were experimenting with drugs and had family conflict at home. The DJ’s put out a call to the community and a group of volunteers came together and founded a “Hotline.”
