Description
Global Aid Network (GAIN) is a Christian humanitarian organization—a trusted partner of Cru—that expresses the love of Jesus Christ in the toughest places on earth by relieving suffering, restoring dignity, and revealing hope. We seek to fulfill our calling by addressing the most basic physical needs of people: water, food, health, and compassion. As we obey this call of Christ, and remain prepared “to give the reason for the hope that we have” (1 Pet. 3:15), God creates marvelous opportunities to make disciples.
History
Born from a humanitarian outreach of the Josh McDowell Ministry to the former Soviet Union, Global Aid Network (GAIN) was launched in September 2003. Under Josh McDowell’s leadership from the 1990s to 2003, this outreach, known as Operation Carelift, ministered to thousands of men, women, and children in the wake of the economic hardship left after the Soviet Union’s dissolution. Upon becoming a separate agency in 2003, GAIN joined networks with other like-minded offices. Today, autonomous GAIN resource offices are located in Canada, Germany, Holland, Korea, Australia, Austria and Spain.
