Description
Immaculate Heart Radio is a lay apostolate dedicated to spreading the knowledge, love and practice of the Roman Catholic Faith by means of radio. Their programming content is therefore primarily catechetical, devotional, and inspirational.
Immaculate Heart Radio exists in response to the call of the Second Vatican Council to the laity to evangelize, and to its call for all members of the Church to use radio to evangelize. Immaculate Heart Radio offers its work in the worldwide effort to fulfill the call of St. Pope John Paul II for a New Evangelization and a New Springtime for the Church.
History
The history of Immaculate Heart Radio has been one of growth by Grace. Their network continues to grow quickly as the Holy Spirit opens more and more doors for them in their ministry.
Their first station, K-IHM, named for the Immaculate Heart of Mary, began broadcasting in Reno, Nevada on January 2, 1997. At that time, KIHM was only the seventh full time Catholic radio station in the country, as compared to over 1,600 Protestant stations and 15,000 secular stations. As of today, there are almost 300 Catholic stations nationwide.
Immaculate Heart Radio’s headquarters are located in Loomis, CA. This location also serves as Immaculate Heart Radio’s main broadcasting studio where programming and production work are done for each of the stations within their network.
