History
Pacific Press® Publishing Association was established by James White in 1874 to print a magazine called Signs of the Times® at his home in Oakland, California, using a manual printing press on his dining room table. Obviously, a lot has changed since then. Pacific Press® now sits on 61 acres in Nampa, Idaho, with a building the size of three football fields. We use state-of-the-art technology, and not much of anything is run manually anymore. But, the same mission established by James White still drives Pacific Press® todayto lift up Jesus and publish the glad tidings of His salvation and soon return. Pacific Press® strives to be a source of light and inspiration through the books, magazines, and sharing materials that come from our presses and the music and multimedia we distribute. Pacific Press® has certainly had its share of struggles in its 130 yearsearthquakes, fires, struggling economies, and world wars. Yet despite the challenges, the dedicated employees, sound business principles, and a commitment to God’s mission have sustained the publishing house for over a century.
