Description
The Regional Y is a community service organization committed to building healthy lives through programs that strengthen the spirit, mind and body for all.
History
The Regional Y began in the late 1800’s as a storefront operation in downtown Danbury, it was incorporated as the Danburia Regional Young Man’s Christian Association in 1963, but changed its name to the Regional YMCA of Western Connecticut by 1988.
In April 2002, in recognition of the Y’s widening geographic reach and scope, the Board of Directors voted to change the organization’s official name to Regional YMCA of Western Connecticut and Eastern Putnam County, Inc.
We service the following 22 towns: Bethel, Bridgewater, Brookfield, Danbury, Kent, New Fairfield, New Milford, Newtown, Redding, Ridgefield, Roxbury, Sherman, Warren and Washington, CT; and Brewster, Carmel, Cold Spring, Kent, Mahopac, Patterson, Philipstown and Southeast, NY.
