Description
The mission of the YMCA of Greater Houston is to put Judeo-Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all.
The Y is a cause-driven organization that is for youth development, for healthy living and for social responsibility. That’s because a strong community can only be achieved when people invest in their kids, their health and their neighbors.
History
As the one of Houston’s leading nonprofits committed to helping people and our community succeed, our contributions are both far-reaching and intimate—from influencing our culture during times of profound social change to the individual support we provide an adult learning to read.
By nurturing the potential of every child and teen, improving the city’s health and well-being, and supporting and serving our neighbors, the Y ensures that everyone has the opportunity to become healthier, more confident, connected and secure.
As we continue to serve Houstonians, we are developing a time line of our rich history, and a snapshot of our many successes over the last 125 years on behalf of the individuals and communities we are privileged to serve.
